Easter in Madrid Normally, during “Semana Santa” the Spanish capital is full of processions, celebrations and concerts, but this year all the festivities had to be cancelled in order to avoid crowds of people. Nevertheless, the brotherhoods and confraternities will display the images of their patron saints in the different churches from Passion Saturday, 27 March, until Holy Saturday, 3 April, and encourage the faithful to enjoy them in the different churches. You can either walk to the different places or rent a bike at our Trixi shop to reach them easier! Happy Easter and let's make the best out of it! We are open from 10.00-18.00 Trixi Madrid c/
``Forgive fast, thank slow``. ``All your footsteps are my wings`` Boa Mistura Did you know that walking through Madrid you can come across these and other beautiful poetic verses painted on the crossroads of the streets? It seems that they want to awaken, challenge, shake, question .... "Te comería a versos" - that's the name of the project launched in 2014 by the artists of the group Boa Mistura (“Good Mix”). Here you will find a map where all the phrases that exist in Madrid are marked. In the beginning, the phrases and verses of these artists appeared illegally painted on the streets at night, but since they were so

Today 8th of March is the International Women’s Day and we would like to talk about some very important and influential women of Madrid who forged the way for women today. Some of them are not visible in the first place but we literally topped ourselves with one of them when strolling in the famous Malasaña district, namely in the form of a bronze sculpture that represents a young woman leaning on the wall; this statue is located at the end of the street “Calle del Pez, 42” When we discovered her we didn’t think we would be taken back a couple of centuries to a legend. The statue “Tras

Parks of Madrid: In Madrid we have an urban park – the “Quinta de los Molinos“ – that has nothing to envy to the famous “cherry blossoms” of Japan. This is one of many very special parks of Madrid. Between February and March, this old park is one of the favourite places for many Madrilenians to go for a stroll.  This is due to the natural spectacle that Quinta de los Molinos offers thanks to the many almond trees in bloom. The ground is transformed into a carpet of pink and white petals which is a real treat also for the children. The pleasant and magical atmosphere makes you forget

“The Heavies of the Gran Vía” – revolutionary or freaky? When we opened our Trixi bike rental and bike tour shop on Calle de los Jardines, just a few steps from the Gran Vía, one of the main streets of Madrid, we already started to come across the The Heavies of the Gran Vía. At first we didn’t understand much about it… Who were those two guys with long hair and the look of a heavy metal festival? Why were they always in the same place under the number 25 Gran Via? Why did people stop, chat with them and take souvenir photos… ? Little by little we started to

Snow in Madrid – Storm Filomena 2021 Although the heavy snow in Madrid and the low temperatures had been announced, Madrid and Spain in general are not prepared for such hard weather conditions. Between the 8th and 9th of January 2021 about 50cm of snow fell onto Madrid’s streets and temperatures plumed to almost 10 degrees below zero. It is said that it is the heaviest snowfall since 1971. Filomena brought great joy to many Madrileños and especially to the children who enjoyed the snowball fights and not having to go to school for another week. Ski fans who were not allowed to leave Madrid to enjoy skiing in the
