“Tell me what you eat and I will tell you who you are” an important thinker once said. Food, in other words, says a lot about people. On the Culinary Cycling Tour you learn about Madrid and Spain by looking through the lens of food. This 3 hour tour is a journey through the food day of a Spaniard, and explains the histories behind other important food habits. We take you to traditional markets and centuries-old Mom & Pop stores, and show you how some markets try to adjust to the demands of the 21st century consumer. By the end of the tour you know what tapas really are, which tapas Madrileños like best, and why Spaniards don’t sit down in a tapas bar, but eat standing up. This tour is focused on food culture more than on eating. We do try some foods on the go though, and you’ll get plenty of the best restaurant recommendations. If you’re more interested in a sitting down tapas tour, please consider our Walking Tapas Tour.
